Port of Tacoma Commission to meet January 22
Port of Tacoma Commissioners on January 22 will consider resolutions regarding salaries and benefits and the sale of surplus wetland bank credits. Commissioners will also consider authorizing work associated with a habitat site and will hear the first readings of both a lease amendment and a new lease. The Commission will consider authorization of international travel, 2025 board and committee assignments, and creation of a temporary bylaws committee. A full agenda can be found here ⇒

Port of Tacoma and Tacoma Public Schools break ground on Port Maritime Center
The Port of Tacoma and Tacoma Public Schools broke ground January 8 on the 20-acre Port Maritime Center, a transformational project that will bring new life and opportunity to the east side of the Foss Waterway in Tacoma.
The campus will include the Port's new business office and the Tacoma Public Schools’ Maritime|253 skills center, which will provide career and technical education to high school students from across Pierce County free of charge. S&P Global Ratings raises Port of Tacoma credit rating to AA+
In December, Standard and Poor’s Global Ratings upgraded the Port of Tacoma’s limited tax general obligation bond credit rating from “AA” to “AA+” and affirmed a stable outlook on its outstanding general obligation bonds, recognizing the Port’s ongoing commitment to financial stability and viability.
