Port of Tacoma Commission to Meet August 20
Port of Tacoma Commissioners on August 20 will consider authorizing work associated with the Port Maritime Center site, as well as cleanup work on property once owned by Sound Mattress. Commissioners will also consider an interlocal agreement with the City of Fife to support a homelessness street outreach program, and honors for retirees Bruce Kendall of the Tacoma-Pierce County Economic Development Board and Willie Adams of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union. The meeting begins at 12 p.m. at The Fabulich Center, 3600 Port of Tacoma Road, room 104. Meetings are streamed live on the Port’s website and also archived for later viewing. Port switches to renewable diesel
It's called R99: a 99% renewable drop-in fuel that can run in any diesel engine. It offers a 60 to 75% reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions and 20 to 30% reduction in particulate matter, and the Port of Tacoma has been using it since May for our cargo-handling equipment. Read more ⇒

The Northwest Seaport Alliance Recognized as Top-Performing Port
The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) has been recognized as the top-performing port on the West Coast in the 41st Annual Quest for Quality Awards. The NWSA, which is the marine cargo operating partnership between the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma, received the highest score in ease of doing business and value categories, and this year also received the highest marks for intermodal network.
