Port of Tacoma Commission to meet July 16
Port of Tacoma Commissioners on July 16 will consider funding for design of remediation work on the former Arkema manufacturing property and demolishing structurally unsound buildings at the former Progress Rail site. They will also consider a project authorization increase for work on the Taylor Way and Alexander Avenue Fill Area, international travel for commissioners, and a resolution honoring ILWU President Willie Adams. The meeting begins at 12 p.m. at The Fabulich Center, 3600 Port of Tacoma Road, room 104 and is streamed live on the Port’s website and also archived for later viewing. Port hosts major emergency preparedness exercise
Last month, the Port organized a large tabletop exercise to help bolster our region’s readiness to respond to a major incident at the port. More than 100 attendees participated in the exercise with representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard, Tacoma Fire Department, the Puyallup Tribe of Indians, Environmental Protection Agency, state and local officials, representatives of vessel owners, and industry emergency response organizations from Pierce and King Counties.
