Long Beach Peninsula partners work together to promote safe and enjoyable holiday on ocean beach

Beach 4th Friendly

Every Fourth of July holiday brings thousands of visitors to Washington’s beautiful ocean beaches to celebrate. Washington State Parks manages the ocean beaches. This year, a consortium of community organizations and local and state agencies are working together to promote a “Beach-Friendly Fourth” on the Long Beach Peninsula.

Community group “Not a Ban – a Better Plan,” together with State Parks, the Long Beach Peninsula Visitors Bureau, Pacific County Sheriff’s Department, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and other local and state agencies want to ensure a safe, enjoyable time  – and a clean beach left behind. Beach-Friendly Fourth partners remind holiday visitors to:

  • Use established campgrounds or lodgings – camping is illegal on the ocean beach.
  • Respect burn bans. If no ban is in place, keep beach fires 100 feet from dunes and vegetation and no larger than 4 feet by 4 feet in size.
  • Use only legal fireworks and only during legal hours (on the 4th of July, they’re allowed between 9 a.m. and midnight.).
  • Respect neighborhoods and private property
  • Use restrooms, not dunes.
  • Pick up all garbage – pack it in, pack it out.
