Private School Approval Alert – 2026-27

On June 25, 2026, the Washington State Board of Education voted to approve 530 private schools across Washington for the 2026-27 school year.

How Approved Schools Will Receive Approval Certificates

By mid-July, an email will be sent to the Head of School for approved schools with the subject line: 

Your Private School Approval Certificate – Washington State Board of Education. 

This message will include both a link to download your PDF or image certificate and access to a digital badge for websites. 

We've prepared a video explaining how to use the new platform here. 

If you are a new school leader or cannot locate the email, you can access your certificate using the Private School Approval Certificate Lookup Tool linked on our Private School Approval webpage

How to View Your School's Application Status

If your school is not listed among the approved schools, please visit the Private School Approval webpage to check the Approval Application Status Tracker for information regarding any pending issues with your application.  

Stay Connected

Staff can subscribe to the Private School Bulletins to receive important updates. Individuals can now subscribe or unsubscribe to the Private School Bulletins using this link. The webpage will ask you to enter your email and then give you the option to select (or unselect) your subscription preferences.
