Expanded Board Agenda
The State Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting virtually on December 4 via Zoom.
The meeting will begin with an update from Superintendent Chris Reykdal on state and federal policy issues that may affect the Board’s work. The Board will then receive a presentation from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) on the agency’s upcoming Washington State Learning Standards Review process, including proposed updates to the standards and the anticipated adoption timeline for new standards.
Next, Board staff will share updates on their ongoing engagement with key partners and provide a summary of those partner’s emerging legislative priorities. Staff will also give an overview of the latest state revenue forecast and its potential implications for K–12 education.

To conclude the meeting, staff will provide an update on the Board’s FutureReady initiative, including the launch of FutureReady subcommittees and highlights from the Task Force’s November meeting. The Board will also review early conceptual policy proposals, identify questions for further analysis, and offer feedback to help refine the proposals.

The public comment period is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on December 4, 2025.
Board meetings are a limited public forum and comments are accepted on current agenda items or matters under the Board's authority. Comments are subject to time limits (typically 2-3 minutes) and other restrictions at the Chair's discretion.
To participate in public comment:
- Sign up in advance of the comment period by using the Zoom chat feature during the meeting. If you are attending in person, please let a staff member know that you'd like to speak. You must sign up prior to the time noted on the agenda (and above).
- If you're providing comment over Zoom, please ensure you have a reliable audio connection so members can clearly hear and understand your comments. If members are unable to hear your comments, you will be asked to submit your comments in writing to sbe@k12.wa.us.
