Youth-centered Environmental Shift (YES!) is a new free sexual violence prevention program for Washington middle schools. Developed by OSPI, YES! is considered by the CDC to be a promising school-wide program that relies on youth involvement and primary prevention at the community level. The program helps to create a safer and more supportive school environment, using strategies that are proven to prevent both perpetration and victimization among youth.
Free technical assistance from OSPI is available for schools to implement YES! in the 2025–26 school year. Contact laurie.dils@k12.wa.us to learn more.

As the new Advanced CTE modernized career cluster framework continues to take shape across the country, Washington is working to ensure our state’s structure stays aligned with emerging industry sectors. OSPI is committed to moving forward with thoughtful research, collaboration, and implementation strategies that reflect industry needs.
At this time, the CTE graduation pathway requirements in WAC 180-51-230 remain unchanged. All CTE CIP code alignments continue within their original program areas, and existing CTE graduation pathways continue to meet the requirements for students to complete their pathway and graduate.
Students currently pursuing a CTE Grad Pathway remain eligible for graduation under existing rules.
As this statewide collaboration progresses, OSPI will provide updates in advance of any program changes or implementation expectations.

Bulletin No. 053-25 provides updates on recent dual credit policy, funding, and rule changes and programmatic guidance, summarizing recent guidance provided through the Dual Credit Updates listserv. Included in this bulletin is information on the suspension of dual credit grants and subsidies, support for the annual dual credit notification, Running Start rulemaking pertaining to eligibility and reporting requirements, guidance on supporting High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) completion for Running Start students, and additional guidance on credit conversion for college-level coursework. Additionally, OSPI has identified technical assistance and professional learning opportunities to aid in the implementation of these programs.
HSBP Implementation Pulse Check #2 ~ SMART goals ~ due 11/1
The second HSBP implementation "Pulse Check" is right around the corner! To support meaningful timing for students' academic goal setting process, we're asking Fall 2025 Launch Cohort districts to complete the SMART Goal activity by November 1. Completing the SMART Goal activity this fall supports students to set key short-term academic goals early in the term, potentially increasing their engagement in class as they see the steps needed to make progress toward their career and postsecondary goals.
Remember, Pulse Checks are OSPI’s way of staying connected with districts during this transition, helping us celebrate progress, identify challenges early, and provide support where it’s needed most. When we pull the SMART Goal completion data on 11.3, districts/schools with less than 50% completion will receive a follow up communication from OSPI staff to inquire about existing barriers and collaborate on finding solutions to support student completion of this key annual activity. Our goal is to partner with you to ensure every student has access to a meaningful, high-quality HSBP!
Resource: Required HSBP Activities by Grade Level
Looking for a quick resource to share the HSBP grade level requirements with staff? The Grade Level Activities resource pulls directly from the required indicators in the OSPI Scope and Sequence and organizes them into clear, grade-specific activities. To support staff conversations, ready-to-use slides are now available. Each slide highlights what students need to complete at each grade level, making it simple to connect classroom practice with statewide requirements.
A PDF one-pager version of this resource is also in development and will be shared in the future for quick reference. Access the slides using the link in the text above.

Washington's six public universities have collaborated to develop and launch a new website ~ wapublicuniversities.org ~ that centralizes some of the key information needed for admissions to a 4-year college or university.
New tools include a Degree Finder that helps students find which colleges offer a particular degree program and a Dual Credit Course Equivalencies database that can empower students to search for what college credit will be awarded for their completed dual credit courses and/or earned exam scores.
