Private School Approval Alert – 2025-2026 |
|
|
On June 26, 2025, the State Board of Education voted to approve private schools for the 2025-26 school year, granting full approval to 538 schools across Washington. Use the button below to view a list of all approved schools.
How to Get Your Approval Certificate
We are excited to introduce a new system for issuing certificates of approval. In the next couple days, you should receive an email titled "Your Private School Approval Certificate - Washington State Board of Education". This email will include a link to a webpage where you can download a PDF or image of your approval certificate. The webpage will also let you download a digital badge that can be posted on your website.
We've prepared a video explaining how to use the new platform here.
👉 Please forward this email to any staff who should be receiving updates but may not yet be subscribed.
Information for Schools Still Awaiting Approval
If your school was not included on the list of those approved at the June meeting, your school may be eligible for approval on August 14. Please visit the Private School Approval webpage and check the "Approval Application Status Tracker" for information regarding any pending issues with your application.
EDS Access Reminder
A correction to earlier guidance—the login protocols for EDS and State Board systems are not the same. School personnel will need to create an EDS account and then heads of school will request the appropriate user roles using the instructions on our website: Educational Data System (EDS) Access | SBE.
Please note: Access to EDS is required for various types of reporting through the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). The State Board of Education only oversees private school approval and enrollment reporting. Other data submissions, such as weapons reporting, are managed by OSPI.
