Phishing Alert – Fake Request for School Information

On Friday morning many private schools schools received a phishing scam email that appears to be from the State Board of Education or OSPI. The message asks recipients to verify or update contact information via a link.

OSPI and SBE will never request information by email or through external links. Schools are only asked to verify their details during the annual approval process using the official application system. 

If you receive the message: 

• Do not click links or enter information. 
• Delete the email immediately. 

If you interacted with it:

• Change your passwords. 
• Run a security scan. 
• Report the email to your IT support or provider.
