On May 22, 2025, the FutureReady Task Force held its third meeting virtually via Zoom.
In the morning, members spent time developing a shared consensus on a vision that will guide the work of the Task Force and the Board.
In the afternoon, the task force began laying the groundwork for a gap analysis by reviewing background data presented by State Board of Education (SBE) staff and the Washington State Education Research & Data Center (ERDC). Afterwards, the task force discussed initial reflections on how current graduation requirements may fall short of their shared vision.
During the meeting, the task force received two presentations providing background data on high school graduation requirements, course offerings, student experiences, and postsecondary outcomes – helping lay the groundwork for the upcoming gap analysis
Highlight's from SBE Presentation
The first presentation, provided by SBE staff, examined readily available state-level data on how select graduation requirements are implemented across Washington. The goal was to identify disparities in access and opportunity that may prevent the current system from fully supporting the needs of all students.

Highlights from ERDC Presentation
This presentation, provided by ERDC, focused on how students are meeting the state’s graduation pathway requirement, as well as trends in high school course-taking and access to dual credit programs. It also examined high school graduation rates and post-secondary outcomes across different student groups.
ERDC is a state government office that maintains Washington’s P20W data system, which links together data across the education and workforce continuum – from early learning and K-12 education to post-secondary education and the workforce.
