It's time to re-evaluate your menu of CSCP services for next year. As you prepare for your early fall Annual Administrative Conference, prioritize CSCP goals that reinforce your School Improvement Plan (SIP) to maximize program advocacy. When staff and resources are stretched thin, aligning your CSCP with your administrator's goals can elevate administrative support and enhance effectiveness. By focusing our time on the right ingredients, we can maximize efficiency, support student outcomes, and resonate with administrators.

Each year, the Office of Native Education (ONE) supports the development of a bulletin to circulate among education leaders recognizing Native Students’ right to wear tribal regalia.
Bulletin 028-25, issued by Superintendent Reykdal, was sent to every district superintendent, school principal, and school counselor. This bulletin reaffirms the inherent rights assured through tribal sovereignty and expressly provides that school districts must allow American Indian and Alaska Native K–12 and higher education students who are members of federally recognized tribes to wear traditional tribal regalia and objects of cultural significance at graduation ceremonies and related events. In addition, school districts and higher education institutions are required, when necessary, to update relevant policies or procedures in accordance with this law.

Developed by OSPI, YES! is considered by the CDC to be a promising school-wide program that relies on youth involvement and primary prevention at the community level. The program helps to create a safer and more supportive school environment, using strategies that are proven to prevent both perpetration and victimization among youth.
Free technical assistance from OSPI is available for schools to implement YES! in the 2025-26 school year.
Contact nikki.vanwagner@k12.wa.us to learn more.

College Fairs across our state are not cohesive and are thus causing inequitable experiences for students across different regions. Furthermore, the “more is better” approach is causing staffing and monetary stress on our Higher Ed partners.
The Washington Council is committed to addressing this challenge. And while there’s a lot more work to do, in their first year, the Washington Council has established TWO pieces of material – a shared college fair calendar and best practices.
ACTION REQUESTED: Share Scheduled College Fairs: All districts and institutions are encouraged to share their scheduled college fairs for the 2025-26 academic year with jgarver@councilofpresidents.org so these events can be added to a centralized calendar, improving coordination and visibility.
