Get Ready! Online Approval Application Launches March 3 |

The Online Private School Approval Application for the 2025–2026 school year launches on March 3. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth and speedy application process:
Gather Required Documents

Certificate of Compliance: Required for all schools, signed and uploaded with your application.

Staffing Report: Only required for schools employing non-Washington certificated teachers.

Health and Fire Inspection Reports: Only required for new or renovated schools.
⚠ Note: A significant number of applications are submitted each year with blank or incorrect documents. These incomplete applications will be held, and your school will remain ineligible for approval until all completed forms are received.

After downloading and printing any form, complete it immediately.

Save the signed form with a clear file name so you can easily identify it for upload.

Ensure the completed form is uploaded with your application.
Identify Your Login Credentials

Username: The email address on file with the State Board of Education for the Head of School.

If your school has not had a leadership change since the last approval period, use the same email address as last year.

If your school submitted a Change of Information Alert Form before the February 14 deadline, use the new Head of School email address as the username.

Password: Your School Building Code is required for login. If misplaced, consult the EDS Directory to find your school code or codes.
⚠ Note: Each campus of your school will require a separate Renewing Private School Approval Application. Use the corresponding School Building Code to log in for each campus.
Check Your Records

All Schools:

Report the dates of their most recent health and fire inspections.

Retain inspection documentation as required by WAC 180-90-160.

Schools That Have Moved or Renovated:

Upload copies of both fire and health inspection reports.

April 1: Approval Applications Due

Mid-April: ESEA Federal Programs Application Due (Please contact OSPI’s office with any questions related to this requirement. The SBE does not facilitate this application.)

June 24-26, 2025: The State Board of Education will consider approval of eligible private schools that submit a complete application by April 1, 2025.

July 15: Certificates of Approval will be issued – more information coming soon!
