The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is exploring an online tool, initially developed by Evident Change for Humboldt County, CA, that could guide mandatory reporters on whether to file a report or pursue alternative supports. This tool could eventually be tailored specifically for Washington State, and we’re inviting educators, school counselors, and other mandatory reporters to try it out and offer feedback. This initial version provides a “practice” mode, allowing you to explore the tool’s features without submitting real cases. Your feedback will be invaluable in determining if this guide could help professionals across the state make more informed reporting decisions.
If you’re interested in testing the tool or sharing your thoughts, please check out the guide here: CPRG Practice Tool.
Participation is voluntary, but your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Send your feedback directly to Karolyn Smith, Community Engagement Administrator at DCYF at Karolyn.Smith@dcyf.wa.gov..

Open Doors Students Can Complete a Grade Level Curriculum in a Core Academic Subject Without Earning High School or College Credit.
Some students’ academic skills fall below high school level. The IAP (H) allows the Open Doors program to claim apportionment for supporting students through core academic subjects that do not meet high school or college levels and do not result in high school credit.
