The Board will meet on August 14-15 in Pasco. Agenda items include board development and ethnic studies on Wednesday followed by legislative priorities, indicators of educational system health, and business items on Thursday.

Meeting highlights
- Board members will receive an update on the development of SBE's legislative and budget requests as well as continue discussion of platform priorities to consider for the 2025 legislative session.
- The Board will revisit its previous work on supporting ethnic studies and receive an overview of the state's efforts in this area. The discussion will focus on understanding progress and laying the groundwork for further conversations. No action will be taken.
- The Board will discuss its biennial report on the health of Washington's education system, focusing on the status of key indicators required by law and recommending additional indicators that measure the conditions necessary for learning. The report will be finalized and submitted to the Legislature in December 2024.
Public comment is welcome at 1:45 p.m. on August 14 and 9:15 a.m. on August 15. Board meetings are a limited public forum and comments from members of the public are accepted on current agenda items or matters under the authority of the Board. Comment is subject to time limitations, typically three minutes, and other restrictions at the discretion of the Chair. Any member of the public wishing to make a comment must sign up in advance of the comment period for the day.
Those wishing to comment remotely must:
- Connect to the meeting via Zoom
- Use the comment window in Zoom to sign up for comment prior to the time noted on the agenda (and above)
- Have adequate quality audio connection for members to clearly hear and understand your comments. If members are unable to hear your comments you will be asked to submit your comments in writing to sbe@k12.wa.us.
