Public comment is welcome at 12:45 p.m. on April 10 and 8:15 a.m. on April 11. Board meetings are a limited public forum and comments from members of the public are accepted on current agenda items or matters under the authority of the Board. Comment is subject to time limitations, typically three minutes, and other restrictions at the discretion of the Chair. Any member of the public wishing to make a comment must sign up in advance of the comment period for the day.
Those wishing to comment remotely must:
- Connect to the meeting via Zoom
- Use the comment window in Zoom to sign up for comment prior to the time noted on the agenda (and above)
- Have adequate quality audio connection for members to clearly hear and understand your comments. If members are unable to hear your comments you will be asked to submit your comments in writing to sbe@k12.wa.us.

The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to solicit proposals from diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) training providers or teams to work with SBE as it seeks to transform how the it interacts with the students, families, and communities it serves across Washington. In addition, SBE seeks to improve the processes by which its members and staff interact with one another within the agency. This work will include structured DEIB training sessions, individualized DEIB training opportunities and guidance provided to SBE as it learns how to include and build policy and practices with communities most impacted by failures in the education system.
Brief timeline:
- OSPI issues RFP on behalf of SBE (March 27)
- Letter of Intent due 5:00 p.m. on April 15
- Question and Answer period March 27-April 19
- SBE hosts Pre-bid Conference 2:00 p.m. on April 8
- Proposals due April 26
