The WSCA Trailblazer Recognition is new for 2024, and reflects collaboration between WSCA, Hatching Results and OSPI. Trailblazers are individuals and teams taking the steps to implement comprehensive school counseling programs across the state that are making a difference for their students, as evidenced through school data. Recipients submitted a lesson, intervention, and/or strategy that produced a measurable impact and could be replicated.

2. Which students and student groups were most/least impacted by the CSCP? Why?
3. How will you improve your CSCP in the future, based on what you learn from the program evaluation?

From the Washington State Board of Education:
"On January 11, the Board approved a proposed rule change that would allow a district to waive the pathway requirement, based on individual student circumstances, for students graduating in 2024. . . If the final rule is adopted by the Board in April, the change would allow a district to waive the pathway requirement in ELA or Math for a student graduating in 2024, provided that the district has not also waived a core course requirement in the same subject for that student.
Timeline for rule adoption:
-
January 11— Approval of proposed rule
-
March 13, 2024, 12:30-2:30— Public hearing (see the SBE Rulemaking page for connection information)
- April 10-11 Board Meeting— Adoption of final rules

OSPI is incredibly grateful to the thousands of stakeholders who let their voices be heard by responding to the Statewide HSBP Platform survey. We also want to send a huge thank you to the many agency partners and volunteers who assisted in distributing the survey within their networks.
|
OSPI is currently disaggregating survey data from students, families, educators, and community partners to inform selection of the best possible platform and future partner to meet the highest needs and interests of all stakeholders.
A multi-divisional OSPI team conducted interview presentations with the 7 preliminary finalists last week and will be completing reference checks soon. Final platform selection will take place in May 2024 and the selected vendor will be announced by June 1, 2024. Currently, the earliest projected implementation timeline is Fall 2025, dependent on the selected platform.
