Washington DECA students submitted a short, inspirational, and informative video as part of their public comment during the Board's December meeting. Thank you to the program administrators and student leaders for sharing your message in this way!
Congratulations were in order for one of the two winners of last year's Snorkels' birthday celebration coloring contest: Raelyn, a student at the Stillaguamish Learning Center in Arlington.
We use both our stuffed seal, Snorkels, and the coloring sheets to hear from little learners about what they love in Washington schools.
There’s something special about visiting a classroom like Ms. Green’s in Arlington! Her space is partially at home, and partially in a classroom meaning a deep connection with families is important. Her students can see this when Ms. Green’s own grandma and former educator volunteers in school. Thanks to the students for entering a coloring sheet in honor of Snorkels’ birthday. We had a great time learning about what you do! Watch a short video of our visit on SBE's YouTube channel.
For Snorkels' final visit of the year, we had a party in Kent! Stay tuned!

It was an amazing 2023 - see why on our highlights message! The Board welcomed two teen interns, amped up community-engagement, and worked with the legislature to see HB 1308 pass (the performance-based graduation pathway option).
