The Washington State Board of Education's Instagram seal, and beloved mascot, Snorkels will journey to two schools in the coming weeks to visit with elementary students, and to celebrate one year of Snorkels (the stuffed seal). The "flat Stanley" type stuffie has been to many educational events and learning environments in the past year. We are excited to celebrate with two students who submitted fabulous artwork, and their classes after a state-wide drawing. The students attend Stillaguamish Learning Center (Arlington) and Kent Elementary (Kent).
Last year, Snorkels was named by a fourth-grade student in Lake Stevens who won the inaugural coloring contest (the prize was a pizza party and visit from State Board representatives). This year, Snorkels will bring cake to celebrate their birthday and ask students what they love in their schools. Follow us on Instagram as we document the visits ASAP.
Special thanks to all who submitted!
