As we gear up for the new school year, please take a moment to ensure that the State Board of Education has correct contact information for your school. Please see below:
If the Head of School has changed since you submitted your 2023 – 2024 Private School Approval Application, please submit a Private School Change of Information Form.
Heads of School are responsible for OSPI-related reporting, accessed through the EDS portal. School personnel will need to contact OSPI Customer Support to request permissions and user roles in their EDS accounts. More information about EDS Access and How to Update Private School Information is available on our website.
If your school needs to temporarily close due to low or no enrollment, or if your new school has delayed opening, please notify the State Board of Education. When you are ready to reopen, you will use the Renewing Private School Application with your building code. If you need help finding your building code, instructions are available on our website.
Private schools that are permanently closing must complete a closure form. Please ensure that records from the closing private school are transferred to a reliable person or entity for storage and that students and parents/guardians understand how to request their records. If your school is a high school, your former students will need to be able to request copies of their transcript for many years into the future.
Certificates of approval for the 2023 – 2024 are posted on our website and are organized by the date of approval:
Searching the approval certificates using Control-F is the easiest way to find individual certificates.
Provisional approval granted in June will expire on October 30th. Please email any remaining application materials to the Private Schools Manager by September 26th in order to be approved for the 2023 – 2024 school year.
To check the status of your approval application, see the status update list on our website, Private School Approval | SBE (wa.gov).
