The legislature provided funding for an Open Doors summer pilot for summer 2024. OSPI is excited for this opportunity and is in the early stages of planning implementation. The legislature has limited the pilot to be in up to 12 programs and to focus on serving post-resident youth. More information will be available in July.
House Bill 1658 authorizes high school students aged 16 and over to earn up to two elective credits through paid work experience if specified requirements are met.
OSPI staff are developing rules and guidelines which will be shared in our upcoming newsletters.
To establish a more customizable option for students, the legislature has approved an additional Graduation Pathway option. Please work with your local district regarding this pathway option for students.
The GREW is applicable for students whose education was disrupted by the pandemic. GREW is available for 2023 and it may be applied for students graduating in 2023, but not 2023 graduation cohort students who delay graduation until later years. The GREW is not expected to be available in 2024. To learn more, please attend the upcoming office hours on the GREW.
