WIDA ACCESS Updates
Refusal Forms: Many districts appear to be using a template for test refusal forms. Please check the form you are using to ensure that it is not sharing inaccurate information about multilingual learners. Students who do not complete an annual ELP assessment will not exit program and remain eligible for services the following year.
Chromebooks in Tablet Mode: OSPI has recently heard reports of Chromebooks (new and old) retaining predictive text capabilities even when predictive text is disabled for laptop mode. As you proceed with testing, please either confirm that the Chromebooks used for testing have predictive text disabled in both laptop and tablet mode or require testing in laptop mode only.
Students Testing on the Wrong SSID: Please talk to your TAs about processes for ensuring that students test on their own SSID. One strategy is to have the student write their name on the test ticket. If a student does test on the wrong SSID, have the student complete testing and then contact OSPI to have the test moved to the correct SSID. DO NOT have the student test a second time on their own SSID. This leads to invalid test results, excessive testing, and a lot of unnecessary work.
Comprehensive Guidance Available: The ELP Assessment team has consolidated all WIDA assessment guidance into one document. Please refer to the Washington 2022-2023 WIDA Assessment Guidance document to answer all of your WIDA Assessment questions.
