Graduation Equity Webinars help growth minded educators and education advocates to learn from Washington districts who are closing opportunity gaps. Using OSPI data and experience from practitioners, Graduation Equity Webinars reveal the systems that drive success, an equity focus, and the key strategies that are getting students to graduation.
Graduation Equity Webinars link research and best practices featuring education experts and Washington practitioners with findings on equity in graduation, such as attendance, ninth graders on-track, community partnerships, and building strong teams. The goal of Graduation Equity Webinars isn't merely to inform, but to give you insights to apply at schools, in your offices, and throughout your life.

Our school system holds summers in high regard. We want to maintain a break for everyone, but we also face summer learning loss, lack of services, and social disconnection during that time. What if we could adjust the schedule to offer more proactive supports, more breaks to educators, and help kids catch up when they’ve fallen behind using high interest topics? The balanced calendar is not year around school. You’ll still get a summer but you’ll also get longer breaks spread throughout the year that make learning and teaching more humane and consistent. We’ll have David Hornak, the Executive Director of the National Association for Year-Round Education, with us to talk about his work, and we’ll have a school with us to talk about how this work has impacted them and their lessons learned. We’ll also share some perspectives from alternative learning about daily schedules, and from our school counseling perspective on how the High School and Beyond Plan can help you create more meaningful class offerings. Free Clock Hours are available each month.

Beyond SEL Time: Exploring Challenges and Successes with Integrating and Embedding SEL in the Learning Environment
Join the SEL Professional Learning Network’s second Peer-to-Peer Virtual Exchange! During the event, local education agency (LEA) teams will come together to explore practices for integrating and embedding social emotional learning (SEL) in the learning environment. By sharing challenges and brainstorming strategies to address those challenges, LEA teams will develop solutions that align with best practices while also strengthening professional relationships. This facilitated, 90-minute session will include a subject matter expert who will support LEA teams in creating an action plan.
There are two requirements for this session. Please reach out if you need help with fulfilling either requirement:
- A team of 2-3 people from your LEA to attend**
- A defined problem of practice that outlines a challenge your LEA faces with integrating and embedding SEL in the learning environment
**LEA teams will be sent an action planning tool in the preparation for this event once team members have registered.
Please address questions to Debra Parker.
