Bridge to College transition courses in mathematics and English are designed to provide high school seniors not yet ready for college–level work a targeted opportunity to prepare for success in those courses. Teachers new to Bridge to College are required to attend the initial three-day Summer Institute, which will take place on August 8–10, 2023. For more information on how your district and teachers can register, see Bulletin No. 001-23.
Can Bridge to College be delivered through Alternative Learning Experiences? Bridge to College courses utilize significant student collaboration time, which may be adapted in ALE through scheduled synchronous online activities and/or components of in-person collaborative time.
Drop in for office hours with Anissa Sharratt, ALE program manager, and Liz Quayle, Alternative Learning Accountability program manager, to ask your questions around ALE implementation and compliance. We will meet individually with as many attendees as possible.
Office hours will be held on the fourth Friday of each month through May, except for February due to the WALA Spring Conference.
-
Friday, January 27 Office Hours | 9 am - 10 am
- No February office hours due to the WALA Spring Conference. Attend a session or drop by the OSPI table to ask your questions in person!
If you are not able to attend and have questions, please contact us via the Learning Options email.
GRANT UPDATES
This grant initially opened reopened in December 2022 for applications with a narrower scope. The goals of the grant remain the same, universal screening and addressing identified learning gaps of students resulting from the effects of the pandemic. However, the proposals that OSPI will review in this round of applications must specifically support activities outside of and beyond the scheduled school day or calendar. These may include, but are not limited to, extending the day, school week, or school year.

Bulletin 003-23 is intended to provide information about the accountability framework and the upcoming identification cycle that starts in 2023 and continues to 2025. Accountability data will be posted to the Washington State Report Card early March 2023. District leaders with identified schools will be contacted by OSPI staff before public release.
Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a framework for enhancing the implementation of evidence-based practices. MTSS helps to ensure students benefit from nurturing environments and equitable access to instruction and supports that are differentiated to meet their unique needs.
Visit the OSPI- MTSS Website for more information and videos on each of the 5 elements of the MTSS framework.

Center for Discovery is a provider of eating disorder treatment in Washington. Their program is designed to reach those in Washington who are living in more rural areas and/or could benefit from eating disorder treatment in a virtual setting.
Their staff are available for lunch-and-learns or presentations on eating disorders in teens for in-service days or trainings. They are also happy to jump on calls if you need guidance on how to help a specific student in need. Their dietitians also enjoy giving presentations on general nutrition for students as well, if integrating that into your program could be beneficial. See Center for Discovery's flyer for more information.
