Compliance reminder:
For every week with 3 or more days, according to your district's calendar, there must be direct student contact [WAC 392-550-020(10)].
In each month, including short months, a progress review must be conducted. [WAC 392-550-025(3,4)].
For this progress review:
- the review must be approved and dated by the certificated teacher, or if the student's schedule is 100% online, by a school support staff;
- satisfactory progress beyond the initial enrollment month must be communicated to the student (and parent K-8) - this does not require interactive communication;
- unsatisfactory reviews must be communicated via direct student contact, and be followed with an intervention plan within 5 school days developed in conjunction with the student (and parent if K-8);
- the review may be conducted up to 5 school days into the next calendar month.
Tool up with a mix of national concepts, state-level mapping, and regional resources. The recording is posted and ready to view. See the accompanying document, Common Resources: Washington Youth Reengagement, that summarizes barrier reduction and student reengagement resources in our state. |

Implementing MTSS for Literacy Listening Tour
The OSPI Dyslexia Advisory Team will be completing a listening tour and visiting schools throughout Washington. The purpose of the school visits is to provide the team with a clearer view of what educators and students are experiencing in relation to implementation of ESSB 6162. Through the listening tour we intend to gain greater understanding of present needs and subsequently utilize what we see and hear to guide a meaningful decision-making process.
