July meeting highlights
Student Board members cast official votes for the first time in the SBE’s 145-year history as the Board passed a resolution honoring student voice. The meeting was July 13-14 (in Spokane and on Zoom). The Board also swore-in student representative Donalda Brantley and held a panel featuring former student members. The Board also discussed basic education compliance, 2023 legislative priorities, and more.

SBE staff have developed a new resource for people wondering about the GED (the General Education Development test). Check out the Frequently Asked Questions part of SBE's site: GED FAQ.
SBE staff are reviewing Basic Education submissions from school districts for the 2022-23 school year on a rolling basis and will continue to do so until all school districts are deemed to be in compliance. Please review the certification status of your school district or LEA on this list: districts in and out of compliance.
If your school district completed the basic education submission and is not on the list of tentatively compliant school districts, your submission has one or more issues that need to be addressed before the Board considers formal certification. Learn more on the Basic Education Compliance page. Questions? Contact us at sbe@k12.wa.us.
