Foster Care Office Hours are held monthly to support districts with questions and challenges related to foster care. These optional meetings are informal and offer an opportunity to speak directly to OSPI, as well as other districts, to share ideas and troubleshoot challenges. We usually have staff from DCYF on the call as well. People can pop in and jump out depending on their schedules!
Office hours are held every third Thursday from 1–2 pm.

Access to educational records is critical to improving educational outcomes for students in foster care. Districts may share records with Treehouse with a referral for service and verification of foster care status (through CEDARS, School Notification Form or Caregiver Authorization Form). RCW 28A.150.510 requires education records to be transmitted to DCYF within two school days after receiving the request. “The department is also authorized to disclose educational records it obtains pursuant to this section to those entities with which it has contracted, or with which it is formally collaborating, having responsibility for educational support services and educational outcomes of students who are dependent pursuant to chapter 13.34 RCW.”
Please see the Joint Guidance from OSPI and DCYF on sharing educational records with Treehouse.
There’s still time to make a plan for education or training after high school. A college degree, certificate, apprenticeship, or other training beyond high school can lead to a good job and higher wages. It's not too late to make a plan for more education after graduation.
Go to college or get job training.
Financial aid can help cover the costs.
Explore your options on the Washington Student Achievement Council website.
