ELP Assessment Update March 11, 2022
We have two weeks left in the testing window. Many districts have tested over 90 percent of their students. It feels like we are in the home stretch as we slide into spring. Thank you for your diligence and overcoming so many obstacles this year. If you are having trouble with testing, please reach out. OSPI staff can help with a variety of issues. We want you to be successful and we are here to support you.
The additional materials ordering window will close on March 18. If you are still in need of materials, please order them soon. Materials will take about a week to arrive in district. If you are ordering additional materials, remember to order using the “District-level Additional Materials” site in the school drop down when you order. Only district-level orders can be approved. Orders for specific schools cannot be approved.
WIDA is offering a webinar on March 15 at 11:00 a.m. called Interpreting Score Reports. The webinar is under “Webinars” on the WIDA Secure Portal and will be recorded. This Event Link may also take you there. This webinar may be useful for staff members preparing for the WIDA annual assessment results coming in late May. OSPI previously announced this webinar with the incorrect date.
On March 8 WIDA hosted a webinar about data validation. The webinar was recorded and will be available in the Secure Portal under Webinars soon. This webinar provide how-to information on validating and correcting student data in the WIDA AMS system.
The Retuning Materials (Paper) webinar is also available for districts needing additional guidance on this process. This webinar link may take you there.
Districts across our state have gone above and beyond this year with ELP testing. Despite all the setbacks and staffing shortages and everything else that has been thrown at your this year, Washington is on track to complete testing of multilingual students by March 25. Thanks you for all your hard work and dedication,
Washington has completed testing for 81 percent of the students we expect to test online across the state. 89,511 students have completed testing and an additional 16,226 students have completed one or more domains of testing. Districts are also reporting that Kindergarten ACCESS and other paper testing are on schedule to be complete by March 25.
OSPI will not be asking for an extension to the testing window. With this decision made we can confirm that test results will be in WIDA AMS at the end of May and individual student reports (ISRs) will be in districts by mid-June.
Please join us for Lunch with Leslie on Mondays at noon. This is a good place to ask your questions about WIDA assessments and OSPI policies around ELP testing. We will be skipping a few weeks around spring break, but still offering Zooms around some of the post-administration activities that are on the horizon. Topics and links are below.
