In our monthly information session on March 3rd, we shared updated Early Literacy Screening Guidance for Multilingual/English Learners. Please note these two important updates:
1) 2nd graders may (but are not required to) be screened before the end of 2nd grade regardless of their WIDA scores if they have been in Washington schools since K. That is a district-level decision for the 2021-22 school year.
2) Multilingual/English learners who are NOT screened should NOT be reported in the CEDARS file V in 2021-22. There will be a new option added next year to report K-2 students who have not been screened but are not considered at risk because of their current status as multilingual/English learners.
Here are a few resources that may be useful in this work:
WIDA ACCESS
We are almost finished with WIDA testing! Over 81% of eligible students have completed online ACCESS testing (not including kindergarten). Congratulations on all your hard work!
Testing Policy Reminder
Please remember that students who enroll after February 25 are required to complete screening procedures, but the district may determine whether or not to administer the WIDA ACCESS annual assessment to those students.
For more information on WIDA ACCESS Testing:
For Q&A on WIDA assessments, please join “Lunch with Leslie” on Monday, March 14 at noon.
ACCESS for ELLs Webinar:
Join WIDA and DRC for an ACCESS for ELLS webinar on interpreting ACCESS score reports. The webinar will include information on how to interpret score report data, review general data corrections, and scoring appeals process.
