ELP Assessment Update [February 4, 2022]
Students enrolling in the district from out-of-state or out-of-country who qualify for services within the first 4 weeks of the 8-week summative testing window are expected to complete the appropriate WIDA ACCESS assessment. The results will be used as baseline Year 1 data to determine progress toward English proficiency in succeeding years. Students arriving in the last 4 weeks of the 8-week window will be expected to complete screening procedures, and if identified, the district will determine if the WIDA ACCESS summative assessment will be administered.
For the 2022 testing window, students who enroll on or before February 25, 2022, are required to screen and, if eligible for services, complete WIDA ACCESS testing as well. Students who enroll after February 25 are required to complete screening procedures and the district will determine if the WIDA ACCESS testing will be administered.
OSPI has created a survey to identify a pool of educators from which a workgroup will be formed to recommend exit criteria for the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs assessment. The WIDA ACCESS for ELLs assessment is the annual assessment used to measure English language proficiency. The work group will meet over a series of days in April to explore materials and determine at what level of proficiency, based on the assessment, a student would become ineligible for continued English language development services. We are trying to create a diverse work group that represents various grade levels, experiences, geographic areas, and language families, we are asking that you respond to a variety of questions about yourself and your professional experience on this survey if you are interested in being considered. https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/6596547/WIDA-Exit-Criteria-Participation-Survey-2022
Please note, at this time we do not know the exact times and dates of the work and we do not know how many days the work will last. If you are selected for the work group, you are welcome to accept or decline the invitation. Filling out this survey is not a commitment to join the work group, but an offer to be included in the pool of educators from which the workgroup will be formed.
When ordering materials through WIDA AMS, please make all of your additional materials orders using District-Level Additional Orders Only Site in the school drop down box. Additional orders must be ordered through the district, not the school. Orders that are done through the school cannot be approved. If you have already submitted orders for materials by school, please cancel those orders and resubmit them using the District-Level Additional Orders Only Site.
Please join us for Lunch with Leslie on Mondays at noon. This is a good place to ask your questions about the upcoming annual WIDA assessments and to learn about specific components of the WIDA AMS system. Topics and links are below.

We have made it to the end of week 1 of our first year of WIDA testing. Any new system takes time and effort to learn. Thank you all for your patience as we move forward. The start of the testing window has been mostly smooth and we appreciate the time and diligence you have committed to learning the system. Thank you.
