ELP Assessment Update [October 29, 2021]
OSPI is interested in hearing about your experience this fall with the WIDA Screener. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts and help us to better serve you as we prepare for spring testing. We are inviting anyone who has administered or had a hand in the administration, scoring, training or preparing for WIDA Screener testing to participate in the survey. The survey will take between 5 and 15 minutes for most people. Thank you for completing the survey before November 8.

The ELP Annual Assessment Page is being updated regularly with new information and documents to help you prepare for WIDA ACCESS testing. The FAQ for this test along with training expectations, Interpretive guides and other resources will be located on this page.
WIDA is offering webinars through the WIDA Secure Portal. These webinars are focused on specific tasks in the assessment process and may help you get a clearer picture of the system as a whole. Recent webinars include “Test Scheduling,” and “Technology Installations.” These are recorded webinars and accessible about a week after they wrap. Upcoming webinars can be accessed in the Secure Portal under the Webinars tab. Some topics include:
- Technology Coordinator Support for Test Administrators (November 9 from 9:00-10:00 AM)
- Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs for New Test Administrators (November 16 from 9:00-10:00 AM)
- Managing Students in WIDA AMS – ACCESS Online (November 18 from 9:00-10:00 AM)
- Alternate ACCESS for ELLs for New Test Administrators (November 23 from 9:00-10:00 AM)
If you need to test private school students on the WIDA Screener, please request the Excel template the ELPAssessment@k12.wa.us email. Once you have the template, work with each private school to collect the following information for DRC.
- State Name Abbreviation (WA)
- District Number (WAPVT###)
- School Number (WAPVT###)
- Site name (Private School Name)
- Site Type: District/School (one line each)
- Site Sub Type
- Ship to
- Shipping Address Line 1
- Shipping Address Line 2
- Shipping Address Line 3
- Shipping City
- Shipping State
- Shipping Zip Code
- Shipping Zip Extension
- Site Test Coordinator Last Name
- Site Test Coordinator First name
- Site Test Coordinator Phone Number
- Site Test Coordinator Phone Extension
- Site Test Coordinator Fax number
- Site Test Coordinator Email
Public schools will send the template to DRC. The DAC at the public school will become the DAC at the private school and both a public school TA and a private school individual to the district for testing and accessing results.
Private School Technology Set Up:
If the private school student is tested at the private school, the software will need to be installed on site or with a mobile device or laptop.
If your district has Central Office Configurations with no COS-Service Device, a laptop with DRC INSIGHT software from the district can be used for testing.
If your district has Central Office Configurations with COS-Service Devices, a laptop will need to be configured as a new configuration separately from any configuration with a COS-Service Device. The COS-Service Device that locally stores test content and the student testing device need to be on the same network to transmit the content to the student. This configuration could be a single configuration with no COS-Service Device attached or a single configuration with a COS-SD and DRC INSIGHT in a single Windows or macOS laptop called the “All in One” Configuration. This is a configuration setup for laptops off the network and are “grab and go.”
The window to identify students in WAMS for the WIDA Alternate ACCESS will open on November 12. Please ensure your students are identified in WAMS before December 10.
CEDARS updates were made this month and CEDARS is available to accept your WIDA Screener data at this time. Please remember that the overall score on the WIDA Screener tests will be a new data element in spring. All data needed to appropriately identify your students as eligible for program is ready to go in CEDARS.
OSPI is offering weekly opportunities to ask your questions about WIDA testing on Mondays at noon. These opportunities are less formal environments where new resources may be offered, DRC typically attends to answer questions about WIDA AMS, and we can take down the questions you have to include them on the FAQ document available on the ELP Assessment page.
Beginning in November we will identify a specific key themes for these Zoom sessions and provide some targeted information around the designated theme. You are still welcome to bring any question to any meeting. The schedule and Zoom links for Lunches with Leslie is below.
