Thien Nguyen, Senior at Mariner High School, conducted a research project in regard to opportunity gaps in advanced-course taking. He utilized the Washington State Improvement Framework Winter 2020 Edition and worked with SBE staff to present about his findings. Way to go, Thien!

SBE held its annual planning retreat and Board meeting September 14-16, with a special session on September 9 with the Office of Equity. During the meeting, the Board reflected on their self-evaluation and norms, and discussed mastery-based learning and graduation, legislative priorities, and more.
