The Guide to Offering ALE has been updated for the 2021-22 school year and is available on the ALE website. A list of all the updates for 2021-22 can be found on page 7 and a history of previous versions of the document is located on page 78.
The 2020-21 ALE Year End Report is now open. This report can be accessed in the SAFS ALE application in EDS and is due by August 31, 2021. Available guidance on this report includes:

- Series of three recorded presentations (YouTube). These recorded presentations were created for the 2019-20 school year, however the information is still relevant.

OSPI filed emergency rulemaking in February 2021 delaying the implementation of WAC 392-550-040, truancy in ALE, until the beginning of the 2021-22 school year. To ensure the permanent rule reflects this emergency extension OSPI also initiated formal rulemaking.
Permanent rule language has been proposed and a hearing has been scheduled for June 24 at 10:00 AM. Review the following resources for more information:
OSPI anticipates allowing the WaKIDS assessment to be conducted remotely again for the 2021-2022 school year. This temporary solution supports our schools and kindergartners as they continue to address the health and safety needs of students and families during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please note that this allowance is not official until OSPI releases a bulletin on this topic. Monitor official OSPI Bulletins for more information.

iGrant Package FP 145
The iGrant package 145 has a hard deadline this Friday at 4:00 pm on June 17.
- FP 145 is a new, short-term, competitive grant for up to $20,000 in funding
- All applications must be submitted through EDS/iGrants by 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 17, 2021.
- The system will not accept submissions after that time.
OSSI: Comprehensive – Graduation Rate iGrant FP 145 is open only to schools identified as eligible for Comprehensive –Graduation Rate support.
iGrant Package FP 873/874
Comprehensive – Graduation Rate schools are also eligible for their regular OSSI Continuous School Improvement Grant (either FP 873 or 874) for $35,000 to support their 2021-22 SIP goals. These applications are also open with a deadline of October 29, 2021.

The ALD has been working on an ALE 101 training series. This training is located in the Moodle platform and is now available for use. Anyone can access this training series through the following steps:
- Visit the OSPI Moodle website.
- Login or create an account. You will not be able to view the course using only guest access.
- Scroll down and click on the Student Support link.
- Scroll down and click on the Alternative Learning Experience 101 (ALE) link.
- Anyone logged into an account should be able to self-enroll in the training and access the segments as desired.
