Need a fitness goal and art project?

Stephanie Gundel(Ballard HS's gymnastic coach) ran every street in Magnolia over a month in quarantine and recorded it into this colorful graphic. Encourage families to walk every street in their neighbor and map it with color pencils or use an app like Strava, MyMaps, etc. Nice project to incorporate with The Daily Mile, (Spanish version too!)

May is National Bike-to-Quarantine Month. This hilarious 4-minute video is great motivation to bike with youngsters. Here is a how to video for teaching kiddos to bike

Safe Routes to School and Pedestrian/Bicycle Program Grants Posted Soon

WSDOT has opened Safe Routes to School and Pedestrian/Bicycle Program grants. Eligible jurisdictions include cities, counties, and tribal governments. Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching and learning materials that are free to use, adapt, and share.

OSPI’s K-12 OER Project Grant targets the development of OER instructional materials, especially in content areas currently lacking in standards-aligned OER (e.g., Health and Physical Education, Arts, World Languages)

This competitive grant opportunity for 2020-2021 will open on May 1st in iGrants (FP 730). In the meantime:

· Review the grant announcement that has all the information about the opportunity

· See the work other grantees have done

· Register for the Project Grant Walkthrough on May 5th at 3 pm
