ALE Guide

The Alternative Learning Department has completed the first edition of the Guide to Offering Alternative Learning Experiences (ALE). Included in this guide you will find a variety of information and guidance on offering ALE's and interpreting WAC 392-121-182. You can find this most recent guidance on our website


CEDARS Reporting Reminder

The Alternative Learning Department will be focusing its efforts on improving ALE CEDARS data for the 2018-19 school year. One step in this process is providing districts with informational reports allowing them to compare their enrollment reporting data with student information submitted to CEDARS at various points during the school year. OSPI is currently in the process of creating these reports in addition to a method for making them available to district staff.

January ALE Administrator Meeting

Online Learning Advisory Committee (OLAC)

OLAC convened on Wednesday October 17, 2018. Members and attendees discussed: 

  • Updates to the Online Learning Guide
  • CTE funding in ALE
  • Information for course providers

Schedule an ALE Compliance Review

To ensure compliance with the ALE WAC, we are visiting programs to provide recommendations and guidance for documentation and how to use it to engage students and promote achievement. Superintendent Reykdal’s Budget Moves K–12 Education Forward

The proposal aims to close opportunity gaps by increasing spending on comprehensive supports, pathways to graduation, and creating a new model for funding elementary school buildings.
