Please remember to conduct the Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) monthly progress review for September!
ALE WAC 392-121-182 requires a monthly review of student progress in order to claim enrollment for the following month. If you claimed ALE enrollment in September, you must review progress of the student to claim them again in October.
Progress reviews must be completed within five school days from the end of September (by the 5th school day of October). If progress is determined to be unsatisfactory an intervention plan is required. This review should not occur during the first week of September.
If you have questions about compliance with this provision of WAC 392-121-182, contact Liz Quayle, ALE & Reengagement Compliance Manager.
Please be aware of the WaKIDS assessment window and administration requirements if your program is offering Full-day Kindergarten (FDK).
Changes to WAC 392-121-182, regarding FDK in an ALE environment, are in effect for the 2018-19 school year. This includes the implementation of the WaKIDS assessment for students enrolled at greater than 0.5 ALE FTE.
For more information regarding the WaKIDS assessment, please contact the OSPI Early Learning Department.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the ALE CEDARS Reporting webinar on September 17, 2018. A recording of the webinar will be available on our website soon.
As mentioned in the webinar, the Alternative Learning Department (ALD) will be focusing its efforts on improving ALE CEDARS data for the 2018-19 school year. One step in this process is providing districts with informational reports allowing them to compare their enrollment reporting data with student information submitted to CEDARS at various points during the school year. OSPI is currently in the process of creating these reports in addition to a method for making them available to district staff.
If you have questions or would like more information on CEDARS reporting, please
