English Language Arts (ELA) Advisory Council

OSPI is creating a state-wide English Language Arts (ELA) Advisory Council to convene a variety of stakeholders in supporting ELA education. The first charge of the advisory council will be to develop the framework for two 11th grade ELA courses. The focus of these courses will be supporting students who struggle to show proficiency in ELA and/or would benefit from an innovative approach. One course will be modeled after the instructional approaches used in the English Language Arts Bridge to College courses and another course will be developed incorporating items from the former Collection of Evidence task bank.

The English Language Arts Advisory Council will consist of approximately 20-25 members. Members will be determined through an application process. If you would like to receive an application for the English Language Arts Council, please complete the Interest Survey. Applications will be sent out the week of January 24, 2018. If you have any questions, please contact: Aira Jackson at aira.jackson@k12.wa.us.
