Shalane Flanagan is the first American female to win the NYC Marathon in over 40 years.   And she won at age 36 with a time of 2:26:53!  Whether it's the upcoming Seattle Marathon or a local 5km, how do we motivate our students to be fit for life?  Consider these two different learning outcomes for students to be inspired in long-term fitness:

-  Discuss how enjoyment can be increased in self-selected physical activities. PE5.2.8a

-  Design and implement a personal fitness and nutrition plan to reach goals.  PE3.8.HS1

The 2018 School Health Profiles Survey will be sent out by January 15, 2018. A random sample of secondary schools throughout Washington State are selected to participate in this survey, providing an opportunity for principals and health teachers to help inform and shape health education for our state!
