Educator Pathways - Quick Announcement
Seeking Educators to Participate in Recruiting Washington Teachers Pilot!
The Educator Pathways team occasionally sends out
information between newsletters that is deemed pressing enough to warrant messaging before next month’s bulletin. In this instance, we want you to be
aware of a time-sensitive opportunity for current teachers, especially those interested in
fostering the next generation of Washington’s teachers!
PESB has been working
with the Center for Strengthening the Teaching Profession (CSTP) to develop
professional development tools to support the Recruiting Washington Teachers
(RWT) program. RWT is made up of curriculum, resources, and pilot projects for
high school teaching academies—these academies allow high school students to
explore a future career as an educator, with a foundation in growing our own
culturally responsive, diverse future educators. More information on the
program can be found here: http://pathway.pesb.wa.gov/future-educators/rwt/curriculum.
New Professional Development Opportunity
CSTP and PESB are excited to announce an opportunity for educators to pilot professional development online modules for the Recruiting Washington Teachers Teaching Academy curriculum. CSTP has been working with teams of teachers to create online modules that provide professional development to teachers planning on teaching the Recruiting Washington Teachers curriculum (available from the PESB website: http://pathway.pesb.wa.gov/future-educators/rwt/curriculum).
Educators from all over the state and from a variety of curriculum areas and levels are eligible and needed. Educators will learn more about the program and provide feedback on the online professional development modules for the Recruiting WA Teachers Program of WA State. Educators will pilot the new modules in September and October of 2017.
Deadline: We encourage you to sign up immediately! CSTP seeks 50 educators to pilot the online modules
that have been created. The pilot will close October 31st, 2017, so there is limited time to participate. Educators will pilot the new modules through months of Sept. and Oct. 2017.
Expectations of Pilot Participants:
- Prior to reviewing the modules, watch an overview webinar about this work and expectations of piloting.
- Pilot up to 5 modules available online via Canvas Learning Management System
- Complete a feedback survey after piloting each module
CSTP will provide:
- Direction and guidance for pilot participants via webinar, reading materials and email communication
- Payment to pilot participants of $25 per module piloted (up to 5 total) at the end of the pilot period, and after feedback is submitted. People who pilot the modules will need to watch the recorded webinar prior to piloting the modules.
