Legislative Budget Requests | Policy Enhancements for CTE Course Equivalency

State Superintendent Dorn is requesting $250,000 to develop additional statewide CTE course equivalency frameworks that expand the course options students may choose to meet academic credit requirements for high school graduation.

CTSO Civic Engagement Day

January 27, 2016 is CTSO Legislative Day!

This is a great opportunity to have students come to the Capitol to meet their respective Representatives and Senators. Student leaders will be able to educate members of the Legislature about CTE and CTSOs and the role these programs play in student development and postsecondary success.

Important Due Dates and Grant Opportunities

The Annual Student Enrollment Report (aka, P-210Voc Report) closes November 13, 2015.

The Nontraditional Grant (form package 461) will be open on November 9, 2015.

Healthy Kids-Healthy Schools Grants

This grant program, form package 758, will help schools remove barriers and bridge the gaps that stand between best practices, processes, and policies for improved student health.

What the Grant Covers
The grant supports the Healthiest Next Generation Initiative by funding improvements or renovations to existing buildings, site improvements, and the purchase and installation of new or renovated equipment.

The grant categories are:

  • Nutrition – kitchen, cafeteria, gardens, greenhouses
  • Physical Education and Physical Activity – indoor and outdoor equipment, covered play structures, playground equipment
  • Access to and Appeal of Water (water bottle filling stations)

Applications are submitted by the district and may include requests for multiple schools in multiple categories. The minimum district request is $2,500. Grant awards are limited to $200,000 per district. A maximum of $1 million will be granted for water bottle filling stations; only one station per school will be funded.

Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by National Dairy Council and NFL, in collaboration with the USDA, to help encourage today's youth to lead healthier lives. Up to $4,000 is available per year to qualifying K-12 schools! Grant deadline is November 4, 2015.
