Fresh off her first French Open win, professional tennis player Cori "Coco" Gauff's victory marked the first time in a decade that an American has won the tournament since Serena Williams in 2015. The 21 year-old defeated the world's No. 1 seed in the finals on Saturday, June 7, 2025. It was her first French Open singles title and second major singles title overall.
Gauff was born in Atlanta, Georgia and first started playing tennis at the age of six -- her father being her primary coach. After attending tennis summer camp, and winning the “Little Mo” nationals at age eight, tennis became her aspiration.
Gauff made her professional debut on the Women's Circuit in May 2018 at age 14. At 17 years-old, she was selected for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, becoming the second youngest American player on the US team. Unfortunately, she had to withdraw after testing positive for COVID-19.
Reaching her first major singles final at the French Open in 2022, Gauff continued to refine her serve, backhand and form, especially on clay tennis courts. A regular competitor in major tournaments, she continued to move up in the world rankings - rated No. 2 in the world prior to her win.

The study centers the lived experiences of people with disabilities and particularly those who are also impacted by racism, poverty, gender bias, and other forms of marginalization.
The Washington State Supreme Court is working to reach as many people as possible to make sure the survey reflects diverse voices and drives meaningful equity-focused change in our justice system.
The survey is looking for:
- People with disabilities who have interacted with the court
- Care Providers, support people, and family members of persons with a disability who have experience with the court
