2024 Legislative Update Week 7

With about 10 days remaining in session, committee debate on bills has ended and thus it's the end of the road for many. However, a few have passed both chambers and already signed by the governor. The bills below are those CAAA has kept track of this session. This week and in those to follow, we will condense our list.

For the time remaining, continual floor debate will take place for the legislation making it to the Rules committee, but it isn't a slam dunk: Last minute changes can sabotage a bill. It is not too late to communicate with your representatives about those that are still alive.

House Bill 1541, the Nothing For Us Without Us Act, continues to move. If passed, access and representation in the policy-making process is increased. As many underrepresented populations are left out of the decisions that affect them most, the bill would ensure historically underrepresented communities have a seat at the table.
