Dr. Claudine Gay

Recently announced, Dr. Claudine Gay, dean of Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, will become the first Black President in the history of the university.   The Harvard graduate earned her Ph.D. in government and joined the faculty in 2006. Selected in a competitive search of over 600 applicants, she's set to be installed in July, becoming the only Black president in the Ivy League and the second Black woman. Carl Maxey Center Executive Director Search

Carl Maxey Center (CMC) of Spokane, Washington has recently announced the search for a new Executive Director.

Since its inception, the Center serves as an innovative hub and gathering place on 5th Avenue in Spokane's East Central neighborhood. CMC is committed to celebrating the life of their late Executive Director, Sandy Williams. Her mission of bringing equity, justice, and economic prosperity to the Black community of Spokane is well documented. Candidates should lead with a focus on Equity, Racial & Social Justice, Business & Workforce Development, Education & Advocacy, and Cultural Enrichment.

At a critical moment of continued sustained transformation, the Carl Maxey Center seeks a dynamic, transformative, and community-driven leader as its next Executive Director. Interested persons considering this unique opportunity should apply. 

Black Night Marketplace

The Black Night Market is an innovative marketplace that features live performers and BIPOC-Owned Businesses to showcase their talents and products. 80 vendors, food trucks, art displays, a fashion show, live DJ, poetry performances and jazz musicians are set to create an alluring experience of Black culture through art, food, music and more.

The event is free to enter and is family friendly.
