Recently announced, Dr. Claudine Gay, dean of Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, will become the first Black President in the history of the university.
The Harvard graduate earned her Ph.D. in government and joined the faculty in 2006. Selected in a competitive search of over 600 applicants, she's set to be installed in July, becoming the only Black president in the Ivy League and the second Black woman. Ruth Simmons who presided over Brown University from 2001 to 2012, was the first.
