WA EMD'S Hazard Mitigation Assistance Team is pleased to announce the Swift Current 2026 grant application round is now open for pre-applications. This comes after the December 2025 Storms and Flooding event that impacted much of WA.
There are two types of opportunities for Washington.
- Eligible jurisdictions may request inclusion and participation in Washington’s Flood-prone Property Acquisitions Project sub-application. Upon invitation, these jurisdictions will coordinate with property owners in their jurisdiction and provide WA EMD parcel-specific information, and Washington will prepare the sub-application and cover the full non-federal cost share requirements. No local match is required.
- Eligible jurisdictions may request to submit their own, independent sub-application for structure elevation, floodproofing, and any other non-acquisition flood mitigation project types. Upon invitation, the jurisdiction (sub-applicant) will develop, complete and submit to WA EMD a full project sub-application, and will cover half of the non-federal match requirement.
