The King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) released their draft 5-Year Action Plan, which will serve as our community’s path forward for measurable, accountable success in dramatically reducing homelessness. This plan is an evidence-based course of action for policymakers, a shared roadmap for advocates and service providers, a tool to hold our response system accountable, and a signal that progress is possible.
It takes collective action to solve complex problems and your input is important. The KCRHA is inviting you and the community to:
- Review the Executive Summary and the full text of the 5-Year Plan.
- Take the KCRHA survey by February 8, 2023 to provide public comment on the plan.
The draft plan consists of 7 goals created with the input of people with high-acuity needs, people with disabilities, Black and Native/Indigenous communities, immigrant and refugee communities, LGBTQIA2S+ communities, youth and young adults, families with children, vehicle residents, survivors of gender-based violence, veterans, and seniors.
The goals of KCRHA’s 5-Year Plan are:
- Dramatically reduce unsheltered homelessness.
- Restructure the service system to improve capacity, supports, and efficiency.
- Ensure the availability of accessible, accountable, and responsive services.
- Reduce the impact of racism on people experiencing homelessness.
- No family with children sleeps outside.
- Every youth and young adult has a home.
- The region acts as one to address homelessness.
The draft plan was created by community, for community — through 38 workshops that engaged over 400 people. Make your voice heard in this next phase of its development by sharing public comment on KCHRA’s roadmap for reducing homelessness in King County.
