Lynnwood's Mayor Nicola Smith Serving as Snohomish County Cities President
Snohomish County Cities (SCC) is a nonprofit organization comprised of mayors and councilmembers from cities within the county. SCC advocates for our communities, partners to create a vibrant and thriving county, and engages local leaders to meet shared challenges.
By advocating, partnering, and engaging, SCC ensures the interests of cities are preserved and advanced in order to serve the best interests of their citizens. In addition to monthly meetings, SCC members advocate for cities interests in regional issues by participating on various boards and councils, such as the Puget Sound Regional Council, Washington State Boundary Review Board, and Snohomish County Conservation Futures Program, to name a few.
Mayor Nicola Smith has been an active and engaged member of SCC, and she is now serving as the 2018 President. "Many of our city's issues and challenges are not unique to Lynnwood," stated Mayor Smith. "Through our collaborative efforts, the members of SCC are able to leverage our individual skills and resources, and strengthen our advocacy efforts to move Snohomish County forward."

The 2018 Executive Board has identified four top priority areas for SCC to focus their efforts: partnering with the NW Innovation Resource Center and the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County to welcome innovators and entrepreneurs to our county; participate in the discussion focused on the Snohomish County Emergency Radio System (SERS) replacement project; participate in the Puget Sound Regional Council's 2050 Vision Plan; and working with the Association of Washington Cities, Economic Alliance, and Snohomish County on a shared Legislative Agenda.
