Lynnwood Meets and Greets to Help Fight Crime

LYNNWOOD, WA (August 5, 2015) –
Lynnwood Police Department along
with the Lynnwood Fire Department, the Mayor, Council members, and staff from
the City’s Public Works, Community Development, Code Enforcement and Planning
Departments, as well as the Emergency Services Coordinating Agency, all toured 31
different registered National Night Out against crime events on Aug. 4. Dozens
of city volunteers also contributed positive energy to these fun annual gatherings.
These 31 block-parties represented
more than 1,500 people. Residents from all around Lynnwood joined the rest of
America and turned their porch lights on, locked their doors and went out to
meet their neighbors all in the name of crime prevention.
Projections this year called for the
“32nd Annual National Night Out” to involve close to 39 million people
worldwide according to the National Association of Town Watch.
Community partners such as the Family
Center of South Snohomish County and Community Transit also toured and visited
with city residents. Big thanks to 7-Eleven for the cool “Operation Chill”
coupons for a free Slurpee, as well as Ivar’s Restaurants for the clam chowder
coupons.
Special thanks go to the following
businesses that donated prizes or funds and supported Lynnwood’s National Night
Out: the Lynnwood Target store, 7-Eleven, Ivar’s restaurants, and the Lynnwood
Police Officer’s Association.
