Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As your state senator, I’m deeply proud to represent this region, a place defined by strong communities, hardworking families, and small businesses that form the backbone of our local economy. I love this part of Washington, and every day I’m guided by a simple goal: making sure it remains a great place to live, work, raise a family, and build a future.
The 2026 legislative session is officially underway!
The 2026 legislative session officially began today, Jan. 12, and is scheduled to conclude on March 12. Over the next 60 days, I’ll be working to advance policies that protect quality of life, strengthen local communities, and create the conditions for individuals, families, and businesses to thrive. That means standing up for practical solutions, local control, fiscal responsibility, and common sense — always with our region’s unique needs in mind.
This session, I’m proud to serve on the following Senate committees, where I can advocate directly for our district:
-
Local Government (Ranking Member) — Oversees legislation affecting cities, counties, and special districts, including land use, growth management, and local governance. As ranking member, I serve as the lead Republican voice on the committee.
-
Ways and Means (Assistant Ranking Member for Operating) — Responsible for the state operating budget, including funding for education, public safety, health care, and other core services, with a focus on fiscal responsibility and long-term sustainability.
-
Law and Justice — Reviews legislation related to public safety, criminal law, corrections, and the justice system, with an emphasis on accountability, victims’ rights, and community safety.

Senate Page Program
Serving as a page in the Washington State Senate is one of the best ways for young people to experience government in action, and I strongly encourage students from our region to consider applying.
The Senate page program offers students a unique, hands-on opportunity to see how laws are made, meet legislators from across the state, and learn firsthand about civic engagement and public service. Pages assist on the Senate floor, attend daily civics classes, and gain an up-close look at the legislative process, all while making memories that often last a lifetime.
If you or someone you know is motivated and eager to learn, I encourage you to explore the Senate page program and apply. I especially love seeing students from our district take part and represent our region at the Capitol. Click here for more information.

I value hearing from you, and your input helps shape the work I do on your behalf. Thank you for the trust you place in me. It’s an honor to serve this region and to fight for a stronger, more affordable, and more prosperous future for everyone who calls it home.
