Re:      CCRS Bug Detected and Fixed

I am writing to inform you of an issue that arose in CCRS recently that has since been resolved. Late last week, the Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) IT team discovered an issue with CCRS. In brief, CCRS was randomly and indiscriminately declining some larger files, sending them to archive, and later deleting these files. The user/licensee was not notified the of the upload failure and it appeared to be a successful upload from the user’s perspective.

Within 24 hours, IT addressed and corrected the issue. The Enforcement and Education Division followed with a careful review to ensure that no enforcement action had been taken or will be taken because of these errors.

Actions Taken

  • LCB’s IT staff identified the issue, identified a solution, and implemented the solution;
  • Enforcement and Education division staff ran a report to identify any AVNs issued related to traceability;
  • Enforcement and Education staff opened and reviewed each of those cases to ensure none were related to a failure to upload files.

Next Steps

  • Nothing is required or expected of cannabis licensees at this time;
  • IT will continue to monitor to ensure CCRS is operating as it should.

Thank you for your review.
