The following policy statement describes how certified cannabis testing labs pay vendor fees for validation and ongoing monitoring. For complete context and analysis of this topic, please read more below:
POLICY STATEMENT: Consistent with WAC 314-55-0995, the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) may require third-party validation and ongoing monitoring of a certified lab’s basic proficiency to correctly execute the analytical methodologies employed by the certified lab. WSLCB may contract with a vendor to conduct the validation and ongoing monitoring described in rule. The certified lab must pay all vendor fees for validation and ongoing monitoring directly to the WSLCB or its vendor. This policy statement supersedes and replaces Board Interim Policy 11-2019.
Policy Statements are agency-level documents declaring plans or intentions of an agency. Policies are different from procedures, standard operating procedures, or guidance because they apply to the entire organization and are primarily intended to set direction. In contrast, procedures or guidelines typically include specific instructions used to accomplish defined tasks that may be described in a policy.
Notice of WSLCB Policy Statement Number PS21-06 was filed with the Washington State Code Reviser on November 10, 2021 as WSR 21-23-051.
