Re: Office of Equity Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Survey

The LCB, along with other state agencies is sending its licensees and partners a survey from the state’s Office of Equity. Washington is developing a five-year plan for state agencies to improve their performance regarding strengthening a statewide culture that bridges the opportunity gap, is inclusive and representative of the people and communities we all serve.

All state agencies participating in statewide survey of stakeholders
Please take a few minutes to fill out a survey developed by the Office of Equity. The Office of Equity will get the responses directly from stakeholders who interact with all parts of the state’s system. The Office of Equity will use the feedback to create a baseline assessment for each agency. The LCB will not see individual survey results. The survey is voluntary and confidential and individuals and their responses will not publicly disclosed.

If you have questions or concerns about this survey, please contact: equityinfo@wa.gov. Please consider taking the survey as soon as possible.

Next steps for LCB
We will also be holding listening sessions for all of our licensees, which is also required by the Office of Equity. We’ll keep you updated as this effort proceeds.

Background and Vision: the Office of Equity
The newly created Washington State Office of Equity was established by the legislature and signed into law in April 2020. The Legislature found that:

  • The population of Washington State has become increasingly diverse over the last several decades.
  • As the demographics of our state change, historically and currently marginalized communities still do not have the same opportunities to meet parity as their non-marginalized counterparts across nearly every measure including education, poverty, employment, health, and more.
  • Inequities based on race, ethnicity, gender, and other characteristics continue to be deep, pervasive, and persistent, and they come at a great economic and social cost.

Vision: Everyone in WA has full access to the opportunities, power, and resources they need to flourish and achieve their full potential.

Mission: Promote access to equitable opportunities and resources that reduce disparities and improve outcomes statewide across state government.

Thank you for your consideration.
